06/20/2010 - Washington, DC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Paul Konerko drove in three runs and scored a run, as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Washington Nationals, 6-3, to complete a three-game series sweep at Nationals Park.
Alex Rios went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI for the White Sox, who finished a nine-game road trip with an impressive 8-1 mark.
Freddy Garcia (8-3) went seven innings in the start, allowing three runs on six hits to pick up his fifth straight win for Chicago, which has won its last six contests. He also fanned six batters and walked one. J.J. Putz recorded his first save of the season.
Adam Dunn, Roger Bernadina, and Wil Nieves each knocked in a run for the Nationals, who have dropped six in a row.
John Lannan (2-5) got rocked in four-plus innings, giving up five runs on 11 hits to take the loss. The left-hander hasn't tasted victory since May 28 against the Padres.
Down 3-1, Chicago scored four times in the fifth to take the lead. Juan Pierre and Alexei Ramirez hit consecutive singles to put men on the corners for Rios, who laced an RBI double to center. Konerko followed with a two-run single. Miguel Batista relieved Lannan and gave up base hits to Carlos Quentin and Ramon Castro to load the bases with nobody out. Dayan Viciedo then grounded into a double play, but a run scored on the play to make it 5-3. Gordon Beckham grounded out to end the inning.
Washington stranded a runner on third in the sixth, before the White Sox got an RBI single from Rios in the ninth to make it a 6-3 game.
Matt Thornton tossed a scoreless eighth and Putz worked around a leadoff single in the ninth to secure the victory.
The White Sox got on the board in the first inning. Rios hit a two-out single, stole second, and crossed the plate on Konerko's base hit up the middle.
Washington plated three runs in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. Cristian Guzman led off with a triple into the gap in right-center field. Dunn followed with a grounder to first baseman Konerko, who threw home in an attempt to get Guzman out. However, Guzman just beat the throw to score the Nationals' first run of the game. Bernadina and Nieves each added RBI singles later in the frame.

Academy Award Betting Odds for Best Picture Offer Great Value
If there is any category that is not an obvious win for any one nominee in this year's Academy Awards, it would be for Best Picture. Sure the Departed is a 5/7 favorite, but that's hardly anything when we look at Helen Mirren and her "out-of-reach" 1 to 40 odds (which means you would win a whopping $1 for every $40 bet).
For value, take a look at MySportsbook.com Oscars betting odds on my personal favorite, The Queen - a remarkable 12 to 1 long shot. The film hasn't won any pre-awards for Best Picture (compared to The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine), but there is a tremendous following and it is a strong enough film to warrant a surprise win.
TV Guide advises Oscar watchers should be cautioned not to discount the drama "Babel" with its strong social themes about overcoming communication gaps among people of different cultures.
"While 'Babel' lost several guild awards to 'Sunshine' and 'Departed,' it still enjoys loyal support, and historically Oscar voters favor dramas with social messages over comedies like 'Sunshine' and violent crime movies like 'Departed'."
"It hasn't done well in the guilds, which means there isn't much industry support," said Tom O'Neil of awards site TheEnvelope.com, "But several critics are expecting it to win, and that gets my attention." Babel had 7 to 2 odds at press time.
Who is to say independently produced Little Miss Sunshine won't be this year's Crash. Last year, Crash won for Best Motion Picture, shocking those who bet on gay cowboy flick, Brokeback Mountain, as the favorite to win.

LaDainian Tomlinson Favorite to be 2007 NFL MVP
With the first NFL preseason game less than two weeks away, it is time to start thinking about football once again at MySportsbook.com. Reigning NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson is currently the 5-1 co-favorite to win the award again alongside Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning.
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone after his all out assault on the record books last season. For those suffering from amnesia or were under a rock last football season, all L.T. did last season was set the NFL record for rushing touchdowns (28), total touchdowns (31) and total points scored (186) to go along with his 1815 rushing yards and 508 receiving yards. At 6-1, Tom Brady is next in line which isn’t surprising considering all of the firepower the Pats added over the off-season. With the addition of Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth and Wes Welker; it would be quite difficult for Brady’s numbers not to improve from last years 3529 yards and 24 touchdowns. There appears to be some decent value in Drew Bees at 10-1 considering he probably would have won the award last year if it wasn’t for L.T.’s record breaking season.
There is no reason to think the Saints will come back to earth this season and playing in a weak NFC, they should have as good a shot as any to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. At 15-1, Donovan McNabb could also be worth a look. Remember, many felt he was the MVP of the first half of the season before going down with a season ending injury. Reportedly, he is in great shape and well ahead of schedule to return to form. Also, he could have some added motivation to put up big numbers this season with the Eagles using their first pick in the draft on McNabb’s future successor Kevin Kolb.
